Alex Ehmer  is a Bay Area conceptual based artist interested in the intersectionality within printmaking and ceramics. Alex was born in San Francisco, California, Alex attended Oakland School for the Arts for Violin eventually playing for 17 years (starting at age 5). Alex began to pursue art in 2015 at San Francisco State University, this created a pivot point from art to violin. Alex then began to attend the San Francisco Art Institute receiving a BFA in Printmaking in 2019.In February 2018 Alex founded, directed, and curated a student run gallery at the San Francisco Art Institute known As SFAI Print Gallery. There they would host shows for MFA and BFA students interested in printmaking or print ideas, fostering communities within the institute and hosting consistent open calls for artists and curations.
